Qualifications

• Two years of college education (60 semester hours) or an associate’s degree or equivalent demonstrated achievement.
• Knowledge of and ability to assist in reading, writing, and mathematics.
• Ability to communicate with students, staff and guardians in a professional manner.
• Excellent verbal and written expression.
• Exemplary work habits and strong interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (desired).
• Knowledge of and skills working with at-risk students (desired).

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom teacher in preparing the classroom or laboratory for instruction.
• Helps prepare and distribute lesson materials.
• Instructs students under supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Maintains individual student records when asked.
• Keeps the classroom neat, clean and orderly to support learning.
• Uses resources to support learning activities in the classroom, academy and community.
• Demonstrates strong classroom techniques and reinforces lesson concepts.
• Collaborates with parents and guardians to foster a supportive learning environment.
• Supports professional development and adheres to school policies.
