Reports to: Upper School Associate Academic Director

Annual Salary Range: $45,000-$54,000

What You’ll Do

The Quad Preparatory School is looking for a floating associate teacher for our Upper School (grades 6-12) campus. The floating associate will fill in for head teachers and psychosocial teachers when needed to provide instruction and social-emotional support to students. Our classrooms typically consist of ten or fewer students.

Teachers have the opportunity to receive mentorship, coaching, and support from the clinicians as well as academic administrators.

Expectations:

  • Take on the responsibilities of a head teacher or psychosocial teacher, following lesson plans and the directions of other classroom teachers.
  • Report to the teacher on his or her return as to what was accomplished during the teacher’s absence.
  • Develop and be ready to implement “emergency” lesson plans in the event a teacher’s absence is unexpected and plans are not readily available.
  • Push into the homeroom classes for interdisciplinary lessons and classroom support on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
  • Perform administrative and clerical tasks for Upper School faculty and administration on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
  • Follow the professional code and policies of the school and conduct oneself in a way that promotes the mission of the school.
  • Utilize Google Suite, in particular Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Attend all faculty and staff meetings and required special events (e.g., open houses, Curriculum Night, Carnivale).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education (any subject area), special education, a related field, or a STEM-related field.
  • Experience teaching children in grades 6-12.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • At least three years experience as a full-time teacher or teacher’s assistant.
  • Master’s degree in education (any subject area), special education, or a related field.
  • Special education training, including training in the areas of gifted education and twice-exceptional youth.
  • Secondary (any subject) and/or special education teaching credential.
  • Experience teaching twice-exceptional youth.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a school setting. School is located on the 5th and 6th floors of the building with an elevator. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the school and occasionally traveling to the Upper School campus approximately two blocks away.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is active and involves continuous standing, walking, and climbing stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items under 20 pounds. Typing is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time exempt position in an educational facility that is open eight hours a day. Teachers, psychosocial teachers, and staff clinicians work ten months out of the year according to the academic calendar (late August to late June). Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required, anticipate at least three of these events throughout the year. In general, though, hours are Monday-Friday 8am - 4pm.

Compensation is dependent upon experience and degree obtained.
