Job summary

Sylvan Learning in Riverside, CA is seeking a part-time Instructor to provide personalized math instruction and SAT/ACT prep in a small-group setting. You will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and equipped to teach a 3:1 student-teacher ratio after hours.

Evening and weekend hours are available to meet family schedules and student needs. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree and some teaching or tutoring experience, with strong communication and the ability to motivate

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Calculus, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry and Trigonometry tutoring knowledge.
• 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Teach using Sylvan-based programs with a focus on math and SAT/ACT prep.
• Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour.
• Reward students for completed assignments and document progress.
• Communicate student needs to the center director and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Inspire students and develop rapport to create a fun learning atmosphere.
• Maintain enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan programs.
• Support a 3:1 small-group setting and adapt to individual student needs.

We are currently looking for upper level math teachers. As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group, 3:1 setting. You will provide personalized instruction in Math and SAT/ACT prep. Students of all levels will need assistance on material ranging from Algebra to Calculus. Evening and weekend hours available. Requirements:

• Preferred Bachelor's Degree required
• Advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching or tutoring in the areas of calculus, algebra 1 & 2, geometry and trigonometry
• 2 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred
