Job summary

Boater's World Manufacturing Group in Chocowinity, NC is seeking an Upholstery Technician to join our boat production team. This hands-on role builds and finishes vinyl, foam, fabrics, and seating components with a focus on quality and craftsmanship.

Experience in boat upholstery preferred, but related manufacturing backgrounds such as automotive, furniture, RV, or powersports are encouraged to apply. You will use industrial sewing machines and upholstery tools in a fast-paced production

Qualifications

  • Previous upholstery, sewing, trim, fabrication, manufacturing, or similar hands-on experience preferred.
  • Ability to measure, cut, fit, and work with upholstery materials.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow patterns, templates, measurements, and work instructions.
  • Ability to identify fit, finish, stitching, or material defects.
  • Ability to work carefully around finished materials and surfaces.
  • Ability to use hand tools and upholstery equipment safely.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a production environment while maintaining quality.
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive hands-on work.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble upholstered seating and interior components for boats.
  • Work with marine-grade vinyl, fabric, foam, backing materials, and related components.
  • Measure, cut, position, stretch, fit, and secure upholstery materials.
  • Install foam, cushions, covers, and related seating components.
  • Use industrial sewing machines and upholstery equipment as applicable to assigned work.
  • Follow patterns, templates, measurements, and production specifications.
  • Ensure upholstery materials are properly aligned, fitted, and secured.
  • Inspect completed components for wrinkles, loose material, uneven seams, fit issues, or other defects.
  • Perform adjustments or rework when necessary to achieve required quality standards.
  • Protect finished upholstery from damage throughout the production process.
  • Work closely with Assembly, Quality, Production, and other manufacturing departments.
  • Maintain upholstery tools, sewing equipment, and production equipment.
  • Properly handle and organize materials to minimize waste.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow established production and safety procedures.
  • Meet daily production expectations while maintaining craftsmanship and quality.

Boater's World Manufacturing Group is seeking an Upholstery Technician to join our boat manufacturing team in Chocowinity, North Carolina.

This is a hands-on production position responsible for building, assembling, fitting, and finishing upholstered components used throughout our boats. You'll work with marine-grade vinyl, foam, fabrics, seating components, and upholstery tools to help create the comfort and finished appearance of each boat.

We're looking for someone with strong attention to detail who takes pride in producing clean, consistent work. Previous marine upholstery experience is preferred, but candidates with upholstery experience from automotive, furniture, RV, powersports, or other manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

What You'll Do
  • Build and assemble upholstered seating and interior components for boats

What We’re Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines hands-on skill with strong attention to detail. Upholstery is one of the most visible parts of a finished boat, and quality matters.

Requirements

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Previous upholstery, sewing, trim, fabrication, manufacturing, or similar hands-on experience preferred
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, fit, and work with upholstery materials
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow patterns, templates, measurements, and work instructions
  • Ability to identify fit, finish, stitching, or material defects
  • Ability to work carefully around finished materials and surfaces
  • Ability to use hand tools and upholstery equipment safely
  • Ability to work efficiently in a production environment while maintaining quality

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, lift, and perform repetitive hands-on work throughout the shift
