Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation is seeking an Upholstery Maintenance Worker to assist Room Attendants and Public Space Attendants in cleaning and preparing guest rooms, maintaining upholstered furniture, carpeting, and floors in guest rooms and public spaces.

The role involves bi-weekly inventories, steam cleaning, floor maintenance, stain treatment, and occasional repairs. Probationary status up to 40 hours per week; benefit eligibility after probation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of operating commercial carpet cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Knowledge of operating vinyl floor, tile and grout cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Familiar with carpet protection, disinfection and deodorization of carpeted areas.
• Familiar with commercial steam cleaners.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Occasional weekends and holidays required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality of upholstered furniture, carpets, drapery and curtains in guest rooms and public spaces.
• Assists Room Attendants to clean and prepare guest rooms.
• Assists Public Space Attendants and Housekeeping Attendants with duties as requested.
• Responsible for completing bi-weekly supply inventories.
• Steam cleaning drapes and upholstered furniture pieces; waxing and polishing vinyl floors.
• Identify stains and treat accordingly; maintain floors.
• Communicate with front desk about guest needs; assist with minor repairs.
• Respond to guest emergencies; exhibit courtesy to guests and coworkers.
