POSITION DETAILS

The Upholsterer is responsible for upholstering furniture and filling customer orders in a manner that meets our standards for safety, quality and cleanliness. This full-time position works with a variety of materials such as leather, fabric, vinyl and more to create quality products for our clients. Experience in sewing or upholstering furniture with high attention to detail is highly preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fabricate, modify, and reconstruct furniture
• Fit, build, assemble, and finish seating and other upholstered components from different types of materials
• Understand and operate all upholstery machinery such as sewing machines, cutters and staple guns
• Follow all policies and company practices to ensure a safe and quality working environment
• Cut materials according to specifications, using blades, scissors, or electric knives
• Operate within standard operating procedures and quality control processes

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 1-2 years of related experience working in similar industry
• Upholstery experience strongly preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
• Flexible schedule when workload and deadlines need to be met
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, not required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The essential functions of this position frequently require the team member to use hands or fingers to lift, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms. The team member is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots.
