Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
• 2+ years of technical experience accepted with associate/technical degree.
• 2+ years’ semiconductor industry experience preferred.
• 2+ years’ Field Service Engineer experience preferred.
• Experience with data analysis, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations preferred.

As our Upgrade Install and Relocation Engineer, you will be part of a team of engineers who help our Customer Support (CS) organization install, repair and maintain ASML systems at customer sites. You ensure that our chip‑making systems work as they should – and be part of the technology innovation that’s moving the world forward.

Roles and responsibilities

• Assemble and qualify the machine on site, according to procedure in a pre‑defined sequence.
• Build, install and align components to a complete machine.
• Install ASML equipment at customer locations, including equipment with new features, pilot and prototype systems.
• Analyze applicability, accuracy and adherence to design specifications.
• Recommend design changes or substitution of materials when appropriate.
• Evaluate and diagnose problems and make appropriate repairs.
• Work with co‑workers and the customer in isolating and solving problems.
• Answer customer questions and assist customers in a professional manner.
• Provide if appropriate support and assistance to less experienced ASML or local personnel as necessary.
• Perform complex adjustments, perform upgrades, diagnose and solve problems with limited support.
• Prepare written technical reports if required.

Education and experience

Job Grade 04:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or the equivalent combination of education, skills and experience will be considered.
• An associate’s or technical degree with at least 2 years of technical experience will be accepted.

Job Grade 05 – 06:

• Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field or equivalent combination of education, skills and experience.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in semiconductor industry preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years’ Field Service Engineer work experience preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in using computer applications, including data analysis tools, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software preferred.
• Knowledge of the semiconductor industry, vacuum system, or plasma is preferred.

• Flexibility to expand capability in multiple technical competencies related to system upgrades, installs, and relocations, including mechanical installs (MI) and system integration (SI) competencies.

Other information

• This position is a safety‑sensitive position requiring the ability to operate heavy/complex machinery and work in a safe and alert manner.
• Will be required to work a compressed work week if there is a business need.
• Typically, will work 12‑hour shifts.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to continue learning and growing in a professional environment is necessary.
• Position will require access to customer site locations and requires familiarization with customer rules and policies regarding worksite behavior and safety. Expect to spend more than 80% of the time inside the clean room working with electromechanical equipment.
• Position works under the direction of a Manager, Supervisor, or Sr. Engineer.
• Position will require travel up to 75%.

Role within Office

Responsibilities:

• Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. Occasionally required to move around the campus.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
• May require travel dependent on business needs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
