What we offer:
What you will do:
The primary outcome of this role is to position the organization for sales growth by having the correct product in the correct place. This will be done by managing the parameters in the ERP system to optimize transactional efficiency. You will work with sales leadership to ensure that the correct stock profile is in place to meet customer requirements of the market.
You will collaborate with sales, operations, and the factory. There will be periodic reviews of stock levels and profiles to ensure the inventory plan is leading to successful sales growth. Appropriate weeks of supply will need to be maintained based on seasonal fluctuation. Distressed inventory (SMOD) will be reviewed to ensure proper actions are in place to disposition this inventory. You will be responsible for identifying issues (e.g., late supplier delivery, lack of warehouse receiving capacity) and escalating if timely resolution is not achieved.
Key metrics for success will be stockouts, aged purchase orders, weeks of supply, SMOD, and inventory turns.
How you will do it:
Ensure the system is set to generate purchase orders with appropriate quantities to support sales. Issue purchase orders to minimize inbound freight charges. Work with sales, operations, and factory to manage the phase out and phase in of product. The focus is to minimize factory/distributor inventory before transitioning to new product. Manage the timing to avoid any negative impact to the customer and P&L. Manage stock level parameters to maintain targeted Weeks of Supply (WOS). Manage stock profile with the sales team to ensure the appropriate product is stocked to support customer needs in the market and maximize sales. Work with sales and operations to ensure a formal hub/spoke is in place where appropriate. Set the system to auto-generate and print transfers based on the transfer schedule. Address any exceptions that did not auto transfer. Set the system to auto-generate purchase orders. Where opportunities exist, auto merge POs to minimize transactional effort. Work with sales and operations to hub/spoke lines that do not generate enough volume to meet pre-paid freight in a periodic manner.
Hold performance review meetings with vendors. Review distressed inventory (SMOD) that can be returned/scrapped/rebalanced. Review aged purchase orders for resolution. Address any other outstanding delivery or cost issues. Work with the sales team and supplier to address product with costs that are uncompetitive in the market. If the supplier is not able to support competitive costs, seek an alternate vendor. For SMOD that cannot be addressed by the vendor, work with the sales team to develop a plan to disposition with a focus on high-value product first. Hold periodic meetings with market sales leadership to review product stocking plan, inventory levels, and sales success from a unit movement perspective. Address any exceptions to support sales growth. Ensure the sales team understands areas of underperformance and has a plan in place to address. Hold periodic meetings with assigned branch locations to ensure the site is ready to meet sales growth targets. Ensure seasonal products are stocked to appropriate levels to absorb sales spikes and growth. Address any exceptions. Ensure the branch understands and is addressing underperforming inventory. Identify opportunities to consolidate product or vendors to optimize spend and vendor leverage.
