Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a field technician to support geospatial and construction-phase solutions. You will assist in identifying utilities in the field, maintain equipment, and help implement traffic control plans on projects of various sizes.

The role requires outdoor work in all weather, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and willingness to pursue Operator Qualifications. You will document work with survey gear and contribute to a coordinated team delivering accurate data

Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying utilities and structures in the field.
• Perform operator level maintenance on tools and equipment.
• Assist in implementing approved traffic control plans.
• Work toward obtaining Operator Qualifications required by clients.
• Identify and repair broken trace wires on unlocatable gas lines.
• Operate vacuum truck and related tools and equipment.
• Document work using proper survey forms and equipment.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Your Impact at SAM

• Assist in identifying marked/unmarked utilities and structures in the field
• Perform operator level maintenance on assigned company tools and equipment as required
• Assist in the implementation of approved traffic control plans
• Actively work toward obtaining Operator Qualifications required by the client(s)
• Follow established procedures to identify and repair broken trace wires on unlocatable gas lines
• Operates vacuum truck and related tools and equipment such as a jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose and air lance and hand tools (shovels)
• Use proper forms and survey equipment to document work.
• Other tasks as assigned

What You Bring to SAM

• Valid driver's license and ability to meet company MVR standards, clean background check and drug screening
• Work outdoors under the full range of weather conditions typically experienced throughout all seasons of the year
• Ability to walk for extended periods over irregular terrain while carrying and/or employing any of the full range of surface geophysical and surveying equipment, the weight of such equipment is typically less than 30 lbs
• Pick up and carry equipment, tools or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs. for short distances and assist others to do the same. This includes the loading and unloading of such items into and out of vehicles, storage areas, etc.
• Remove and replace manhole lids and covers weighing up 50 lbs., with assistance
