Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part-Time Chinese Flagship Online Tutor. The Chinese Flagship at the University of North Georgia invites applicants for the Part-time Online Tutor position. The Chinese Language Flagship Tutors provide synchronous one-on-one and small group online tutoring to Chinese Flagship students at UNG. Depending on individual time availability, tutors may be assigned up to 19 one-hour sessions per week. This role offers a flexible starting date, with the expectation that the selected finalists will commence duties no later than July 1, 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one or small groups online tutoring sessions with Flagship students at all levels using required software and platform.
  • Follow session curriculum designed by the program.
  • Attend onboarding training and group meetings.
  • Attend regular professional trainings organized by the Flagship tutoring coordinator and the Academic Director.
  • Follow program requirements and expectations when conducting tutoring sessions.
  • Track students' attendance, performance, and tutoring grades on time.
  • Track and record one's own actual working hours.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Native or near native of Chinese.
  • Must be mature, responsible, flexible, and willing to help Flagship students.
  • Be committed to tutor for at least one fall term; Must have technology device and internet to conduct online tutoring.
  • Be familiar with using technology to teach.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or currently enrolled in a graduate program in disciplines such as Chinese language pedagogy, Chinese linguistics, Chinese literature, or related fields required.
  • Three (3) months of teaching or tutoring experience in the U.S. required.
