About the Job


Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Order and maintain adequate stock of dental supplies needed in the clinical and lab areas.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly cleaning and maintenance of assigned clinic areas.
  • Prepare and maintain operatories and instrument set ups as assigned each clinic session.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize tasks.
  • Perform permissible duties as outlined in Minnesota Administrative Rules 3100.8400 (Assistants without a license or permit).
  • Prioritize clinic workflow while supporting student requirements and faculty availability.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency procedures and protocols including use of emergency equipment and completion of CPR training within 3 months of employment.
  • This position may serve in a variety of clinical areas within the School of Dentistry as directed by Clinic Supervisor.
  • This position requires the ability to sit and/or stand for long periods, lift, reach, bend and transport items to a variety of clinical areas.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Three months of previous work experience in a healthcare setting involving patients, or two quarters of college-level healthcare coursework, or nursing assistant certificate.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
  • Must be able to multitask and adapt to changing work environment and work responsibilities
  • Knowledge or experience in General Dentistry and knowledge of some dental procedures is required

Preferred qualifications:

  • Education in healthcare or related field
  • Dental Assisting experience in General or Specialty Dentistry.
  • Knowledge of procedures and dental materials
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work well in a team setting and with learner providers
  • Familiarity with computers, computer software, and electronic patient records

Pay and Benefits


Pay Range: $21.63 - 24.78 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience
