Job description

Job Title: UNIX Senior Systems Administrator

ESM is seeking a full-time UNIX Senior Systems Administrator who demonstrates the following capabilities and meets the Minimum Qualifications, Clearance, and Certification requirements. Employee responsibilities include:

  1. Provide and administer UNIX and Linux NIPRnet and SIPRnet Operating Systems to ensure effective day-to-day operations and resolve issues as they occur.
  2. Perform assessment, implementation, integration, configuration, device policy, event analysis, training, documentation, and provide subject matter expert support to the Government in accomplishing these tasks.
  3. Implement required software to meet IA controls, working with the DLA CERT, and support Technology Foundation Services architecture throughout the lifecycle.
  4. Support Disaster Recovery and COOP on mission-critical systems.
  5. Install and maintain COTS products including, but not limited to: McAfee, HBSS, TripWire, ArcSight, and others.
  6. Remotely provide systems management and technical troubleshooting for UNIX SIPRnet/NIPRnet systems.
  7. Review, coordinate, and recommend IA standards and protocols. Perform analysis, validate, and recommend security requirements including RMF.
  8. Develop and document standards and guides for IA solutions, including compliance, system security design, security testing, and IA assessments.
  9. Recommend management, operational, or technical controls for detected vulnerabilities to mitigate associated risks.
  10. Perform customer support functions.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
  • Seven (7) years of UNIX Administration experience, with at least two years in specialized information processing disciplines involving a range of hardware/software solutions.
  • Three (3) years of hands-on experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and resolving software issues.
  • Secret Level Security Clearance.

  • Effective communication skills, capable of clearly presenting technical approaches and findings.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify potential problems and solutions through analysis, and recommend appropriate solutions.

*Must live within 3 hours of driving distance from the work site in Richmond, VA, for occasional commuting to the job site.
