Job Summary

This position performs routine facility maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and furniture/equipment setups throughout the school.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responds to help desk requests for service and setup.
  2. Cleans and services bathrooms and locker rooms throughout the day.
  3. Sweeps, mops, and scrubs floors and other surfaces.
  4. Washes all interior and exterior glass including framed pictures, partitions, and doors.
  5. Cleans and dusts furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, and related furnishings.
  6. Cleans whiteboards – interactive and stationary.
  7. Washes/cleans light fixtures.
  8. Ensures parking areas, common spaces, and hallways are clear of paper, trash, and debris.
  9. Replaces light bulbs/tubes and assists with ballasts as necessary.
  10. Assists with event setup as necessary.
  11. Moves furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment.
  12. Sweeps or shovels snow from steps, roofs, and walkways at building entrances and salts icy steps and walkways as necessary.
  13. Collects, bags, and disposes of trash daily.
  14. Locks/unlocks doors and windows to buildings, classrooms, offices, and lockers.
  15. Turns off unnecessary lighting.
  16. Reports items that require repair or maintenance to supervisor.
  17. Follows written work schedule, policies, and procedures.
  18. Guards against fire, theft, and illegal entry; maintains building security.
  19. Works from ladders, scaffolding, or swing stages.
  20. Vacuums, spot cleans, and extracts carpet as necessary.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some college or trade school classes preferred.

  • Neat appearance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
