Job summary

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field, and a minimum of six years in law enforcement with at least two years in supervision.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree plus minimum six years of progressive law enforcement or public safety experience.
• At least two years of supervising law enforcement or public safety staff; combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise university police operations, including patrol, investigations, dispatch, and security technology.
• Serve as field commander at major incidents, special events, and critical situations.
• Oversee recruitment, testing, interviews, and background checks for officers and dispatchers.
• Coordinate policy updates, training materials, and accreditation processes to uphold safety standards.
• Represent the department with campus administrators and external agencies to protect university interests.
