Job summary

Loyola University Chicago is seeking a dedicated Chaplain who will serve as the rector of Madonna della Strada Chapel. Responsibilities include leading worship and engaging with students through pastoral outreach and spiritual guidance.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in theology and has experience in ministry. Candidates must be validly ordained Roman Catholic priests, preferably Jesuits. Full-time, fully in-person position.

Job Title

Chaplain

Responsibilities

• Serve as the canonical chaplain and rector of Madonna della Strada Chapel working with the Director of Campus Ministry, Campus Minister for Liturgy and Catechesis, and Jesuit Community to ensure a vibrant worshipping community. Responsible for all sacramental record keeping, with assistance provided by the Office Operations and Hospitality Manager.
• Participate as a member of the leadership team of the Division of Mission Integration.
• Assist in the University's efforts to promote a deeper understanding and integration of the Catholic intellectual tradition, Catholic social and moral teaching, Ignatian pedagogy, Ignatian spirituality, and the like.
• Serve as a liaison between the University and the Jesuit community in matters of mission integration.
• In cooperation with Campus Ministry team, provides pastoral outreach and care to students through prayer leadership, vocational discernment groups, retreats, response to wellness calls, and spiritual direction.
• Serves on the Mission and Culture Committee and attends all meetings of the full Board of Trustees.
• Serves on the Jesuit Recruitment Committee assisting in identifying and recruiting Jesuits to study and work in various capacities at the University.
• Supports the Division of University Advancement, as requested, in the promotion of mission-related activities and efforts.
• Represents the University to external constituencies as requested by the president or vice president for mission integration.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Work Experience

Master's degree in theology or a social science-related area and two years of ministry experience. Must be a priest of the Society of Jesus.
