Job summary

The University Archivist at West Virginia University Libraries leads development of the University Archives within the West Virginia & Regional History Center, preserving WVU records since 1867 and guiding access for scholars and the public.

The role collaborates with faculty, students, alumni, and library colleagues to build collections, support teaching with archives, and advance records management across the campus.

Qualifications

• Experience developing archival programs and managing collections.
• Ability to collaborate across campus and with external partners.
• Knowledge of records management and archival best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and steward collections documenting WVU history and campus life.
• Build relationships with campus stakeholders to collect and preserve broader university records.
• Support outreach, instruction, and research using University archives.
• Provide guidance on access, preservation, and access policies.
