Job summary

Imagination Childcare Academy, Inc. is seeking teachers to plan and implement learning experiences that support children's development in a safe, healthy setting.

You will foster family involvement and help children grow intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. Responsibilities include implementing age-appropriate activities, monitoring safety, assessing progress, preparing lesson plans, and maintaining open communication with parents through conferences and home visits.

Responsibilities

• Interact With Children: Implement age-appropriate activities that support our curriculum and the NAEYC standards
• Continuously monitor children to ensure safety at all times, and report child abuse and neglect when necessary.
• Assess children on a regular basis using written, verbal and visual observation and the COR advantage as a tool to guide assessments
• Curriculum Preparation: Research, plan and develop age-appropriate activities for lesson plans
• Prepare activities and materials that support lesson plans.
• Lessons include objectives and are tied to the Common Core Standards
• Communicate with Parents: Maintain open communication with parents by scheduling and conducting parent/teacher conferences and home visits
• Inform parents about daily classroom routines, expectations, policies, field trips and volunteer opportunities.
• Communicate with parents about incidents that have been observed and/or recorded on site.
• Obtain all required classroom parental signatures as needed
• Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork for classroom activities, including attendance, screenings, progress reports, and parent teacher conferences by the deadlines provided by the office.
• Document each child’s arrival and departure time on the OCFS attendance sheet
• Conduct a daily health check on each child upon arrival
• Supervision: Delegate duties as necessary to the Teacher’s Assistant and give constant feedback to facilitate professional growth.
• Administration: Work collaboratively with the Director and all other staff in the building
• Participate in at least 30 hours of professional development every two years, with the first 15 hours being completed by the first 6 months of employment.
• Classroom Maintenance: Help to maintain a clean and organized learning environment
• Sanitize all surfaces, equipment, and classroom toys
• Maintain a quality room arrangement in compliance with curriculum standards
