Universal Member Services Representative - Mercury Branch
Hampton, Virginia
1st Advantage Federal Credit Union is currently seeking a full-time Universal Member Services Representative to support our Mercury Branch. Scheduled hours are 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:45 p.m., with rotating Saturdays (twice a month) from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Universal Member Services Representative role involves performing a variety of member service functions such as opening/closing accounts, sales referrals, and handling member servicing issues. This position also supports teller line functions, assisting members with financial transactions, negotiable instruments, and cash management. The role promotes branch sales initiatives by offering credit union products, cross-selling, and referring loans and business partner services. Additionally, it provides assistance in various branch operations as needed.

Full Job Description:

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Open new accounts (checking, savings, certificates, trusts, business, organizational), ensuring all documentation is complete and disclosures are provided in accordance with policy. Maintain accuracy, security, and confidentiality of negotiable items and member information. Complete maintenance requests promptly.
  • Provide information about membership eligibility, account types, loan products, services, and benefits. Actively listen and recommend appropriate products, aiming to increase cross-sales and member referrals. Meet or exceed performance goals.
  • Process financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments, and issuing money orders, cashier’s checks, and gift cards. Know check hold policies and make decisions accordingly. Understand regulations related to trusts, estates, IRAs, VA UTMA, and loan products. Manage cash drawer, vault, and audit procedures.
  • Maintain and grow membership through sales, courtesy calls, and member retention efforts.
  • Maintain knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act regulations.
  • Demonstrate core values of integrity, trustworthiness, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Perform additional duties, including teller functions, as assigned.
Performance Measures
  • Adhere to assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Stay informed on policies, procedures, and industry trends.
  • Perform member service functions efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with standards.
  • Proficiently knowledge of credit union products and services.
  • Balance cash drawer accurately with no fraud or outages.
  • Achieve at least 100% of individual production goals.
  • Proactively seek sales opportunities and cross-sell or refer members.
  • Resolve inquiries promptly and courteously.
  • Maintain professional appearance and uphold brand standards.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, and members.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience: At least 1 year of related experience.

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, confidentiality, tact, and relationship-building skills. Ability to handle conflict resolution and solicit cooperation.

Other Skills: Excellent organizational and attention to detail; proficiency with 10-key calculator, credit union systems, and MS Office. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations such as Reg CC, Truth in Savings, Truth in Lending, CIP, BSA, and Patriot Act. Ability to work independently, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally, hear normal conversations, perform fine motor tasks, and lift up to 25 lbs. Sedentary work with occasional reaching and stretching.

Work Environment: Standard office environment.
