Summary:

As a full-time Universal Banker, you will provide a full range of banking services to retail customers, including both transactional and non-transactional processes. You will offer customers more personal banking options while still providing traditional services and assist in reaching all goals set for the branch.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Process all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, money orders, gift and bank checks, loan payments, and safe deposit box rentals. Transactions are processed through Columbia Bank’s online terminals.
  2. Open new deposit and checking accounts, explain products to customers, handle deceased accounts, maintain files, and assist with documentation of daily work. Help customers with safe deposit boxes, inquiries, and product explanations, including CD renegotiations.
  3. Discuss customers' financial needs, make product recommendations, cross-sell bank services, and interact with other departments. Serve customers in person or via phone, resolving inquiries and complaints to ensure satisfaction. Explain online banking features.
  4. Prepare daily proof sheets at close of business, assist with branch closing procedures, including branch consolidation and document imaging.
  5. Maintain accurate customer and account records, safe deposit box records, and branch files. Order checks and handle back-office tasks.
  6. Make referrals to Wealth Management, First Jersey Title, Mortgage Origination, and other departments as appropriate.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of teller and retail experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years of strong sales skills and customer service experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of banking products.
  • Accurate with figures and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills preferred.
  • Ability to inquire about customers’ financial needs and introduce them to other bank team members when appropriate.
  • Work with managers to improve customer advocacy through feedback and coaching.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Work weekends as needed or scheduled.
  • Lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Attend mandatory training; continued employment depends on passing training classes.

Orientation, Onboarding & Training:

We provide training to help you excel. Our onboarding and orientation process is comprehensive. Universal Banker positions may require part-time or full-time training, scheduled based on availability.
