The Universal Banker is responsible for serving as a consultant to customers by conducting customer financial profiles, identifying customer needs, cross-selling, and up-selling opportunities. This role seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships and is responsible for contributing to the financial growth of the banking center. The Universal Banker serves as both a Teller and Personal Banker to support customer and team needs, and performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for the financial growth of the banking center through establishing, expanding, and retaining high-value consumer and business client relationships.
  2. Proactively communicates with current and prospective clients to educate, ensure understanding, resolve issues, develop, and maintain customer loyalty.
  3. Apply need-based sales techniques and conduct customer financial profiles to retain client relationships by identifying products and services.
  4. Maintain a working knowledge of banking products and promotions.
  5. Open new accounts and service existing accounts.
  6. Accountable for achievement of defined sales and service goals.
  7. Make recommendations to supervisors concerning the budgetary needs of the branch and methods to improve the client’s experience.
  8. Work to understand the root causes of customer service issues.
  9. Identify and implement resolutions for service issues involving supervisors on more complex issues.
  10. Conduct onboarding activities for new clients.
  11. Provide backup support to other branches and employees as needed.
  12. Work on the teller line when needed including operating the teller drawer and performing advanced, specialized teller functions.
  13. Perform accurate transactions, balance each day, and verify cash totals.
  14. Provide assistance and training to other colleagues and serve as a mentor.
  15. Practice ethical sales behaviors in accordance with the Bank’s Core Values of Integrity and Honesty.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  1. Highly motivated team-player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  3. Intermediate proficiency in Google Docs and Microsoft Office products.

Industry and Work Experience:

  1. 1 or more years of customer service experience required.
  2. Cash handling or sales experience preferred.
  3. High school diploma or GED required.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
