Overview: This role specializes in enhancing our branch customer experience through sales, service, and digital engagement for our Consumer and Business Banking customers. The Universal Banker supports daily branch operations as a Teller, meets customer service and sales needs, and manages customer appointments and walk-ins to identify needs and refer complex cases to appropriate team members. The Float Universal Banker frequently travels within a designated area to assist various branches.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Educate customers on banking solutions, explaining features and benefits, and making tailored recommendations.
• Engage customers through various channels, promoting digital banking capabilities.
• Explain loan application decision criteria.
• Handle servicing responsibilities and identify opportunities for additional banking needs.
• Follow the bank’s sales process, providing customer-focused advice.
• Proactively retain and expand customer relationships.
• Maintain high standards of customer service, understanding customer needs to deliver meaningful solutions.
• Manage lobby interactions, greet customers, and proactively address banking needs.
• Introduce banking partners for product solutions when appropriate.
• Stay informed about AML, BSA, and KYC processes, and escalate suspected fraud cases.
• Resolve customer complaints and log interactions accurately.
• Review and resolve overdraft issues.
• Perform operational transactions accurately and document interactions.
• Comply with all relevant risk and compliance standards.
• Support a welcoming environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain internal controls and address audit and regulatory issues timely.
• Fulfill registration requirements under the Federal SAFE Act.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities: Provide exceptional service, resolve issues efficiently, and drive sales. Exhibit empathy, customer-centricity, digital fluency, and adaptability to meet diverse banking needs, including account openings and loan processing.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of retail sales, customer service, or telesales experience. Ability to travel between branches, strong communication, organizational, and time management skills, and proficiency with internet technology.

Preferred: Bilingual abilities based on branch needs, proven sales/referral skills.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift objects weighing 5-30 lbs., read fine print, and interact in a face-to-face environment.

The pay range is $19.00 - $30.92 hourly, depending on experience and skills.
