Job summary

Mississippi Department of Employment Security is seeking a Universal Banker to serve customers across multiple banking functions. The role requires independence, professional conduct, and adherence to policies to minimize risk.

You will handle deposits, withdrawals, and routine account maintenance while identifying cross-sell opportunities and referrals for loans and cash management services. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of frontline banking or related sales/customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1-year frontline banking experience or equivalent work experience in areas of sales, customer service, or financial services.

Responsibilities

• Assists customers in opening new deposit accounts including Personal and Business-checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, IRAs, and debit cards.
• Recognizes needs-based sales opportunities and makes referrals for loans, Merchant Card and Cash Management Services.
• Accepts all types of account maintenance including stop payments, address changes, research requests, ordering checks and wire transfers.
• Receives checks and cash for deposit to checking and savings accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement and negotiability.
• Examines cash for validity, processes transactions, cashes checks and processes withdrawals from accounts.
• Receives payments on loans and prepares appropriate entries.
• Sells monetary instruments.
