Job Summary

The Universal Banker is responsible for identifying customer needs and matching them with the appropriate bank products and services to enhance a current or prospective customer’s satisfaction, loyalty, and financial well‑being. They will leverage general consumer banking product knowledge to proactively serve and sell to clients and prospective clients in Grand Bank’s footprint. The selected candidate will develop meaningful customer relationships while fulfilling financial needs assisting clients in improving their financial well‑being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • May represent Grand Bank to local or national prospective clients through facilitating financial literacy training, financial product and service training, and advocating on behalf of the bank or associated non‑for‑profit partners.
  • Frequently performs teller duties providing consistent optimal customer experience on the teller line while handling customers’ transactional needs, such as deposits, withdrawals, payments, and other typical teller transactions.
  • Advises clients on optimal solutions for their needs by leveraging industry, institutional, and product specific knowledge. Maximize customer experience by matching bank solutions with stated customer needs.
  • Exhibits a strong commitment to learning every aspect of the role and complete assigned training related to applicable products, services, and Bank Regulations in a timely manner.
  • May conduct outbound phone calls using generated customer and prospect lead lists to expand existing customer relationships and acquire new ones.
  • Accurately and efficiently processes a variety of routine and complex deposit and consumer loan account openings, including assistance across both physical and digital platforms.
  • Evaluates checks to verify endorsements, funds availability, dates, identification of persons receiving payments, bank names, and overall legality of the documents. Can make some fee refund decisions.
  • Identifies customer needs, offers appropriate bank solutions and makes the appropriate referrals to other departments when necessary.
  • Manages existing clients and prospects by meeting with them, both in person and over the phone, to build and maintain strong, lasting relationships, discover financial needs and tailor product solutions to meet the client’s overall financial needs.
  • Proactively educates clients on self‑service opportunities, including mobile, online and ATM services, allowing them 24/7 access to all their accounts.
  • Supports the Bank’s fundamental risk management culture through awareness, knowledge and sound decision making.
  • Performs all work duties within the Bank’s guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of performance.
  • Performs any other related work duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required (some college is preferred).
  • A minimum of 1‑year sales and customer experience in financial services required.
  • One (1) year of cash‑handling experience required.
  • Two years working with the public in a full‑service financial institution is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English via both oral and written communication.
  • Trustworthiness and the expectation to act with integrity.
  • Is an enthusiastic, highly motivated self‑starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Present a professional image and attitude at all times.
  • Ability to maintain a work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to quality customer service.
  • Able to remain calm and composed in high‑stress customer interactions.
  • Able to utilize multiple computer systems simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent math skills including attention to detail in all computations.
