Job summary

Peoples Bank in the United States is seeking a customer-focused professional to deliver excellent service in our branch network. You will open deposit accounts, process CSR transactions, and actively promote banking products to meet customer needs while building long‑term relationships.

This role requires a High School Diploma or GED, at least one year in customer service, strong communication, computer skills, and the ability to travel to other branches as needed.

Qualifications

Job Purpose

The position provides excellent service to customers in accordance with Peoples Bank policies. Responsibilities include opening deposit accounts, handling CSR transactions, selling and cross-selling bank products and services, generating and executing consumer loans, and resolving customer service issues. The role engages in sales and service activities in branch locations, contributing directly to the success of the banking center by recognizing and uncovering opportunities to make sales referrals.

Job Duties
  • Deliver superior customer service with a friendly demeanor, can‑do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
  • Develop and retain the customer base; greet customers using names, maintain knowledge of account ownership, and respond promptly to correspondence and problem resolution.
  • Maintain trust and confidentiality of all customer business.
  • Ensure accuracy of balancing and error record; find and correct outages; enlist help as needed for difficult errors.
  • Process complex multi‑step transactions.
  • Research and offer solutions to resolve customer issues, using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources; provide follow‑up on resolution.
  • Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verify deposit amounts, and examine checks for endorsement and negotiability.
  • Acquire, use, and maintain consumer lending product knowledge to generate and execute consumer loans, lines, and deposit products.
  • Be self‑motivated and assertive with an ability to perform well in a sales environment and interact well with customers and team members professionally.
  • Turn service encounters into dialogue‑based meetings to uncover other needs.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales referral goals set by management; maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of all products and services offered.
  • Initiate conversations to uncover customer needs and effectively refer customers to business partners for selling and cross‑selling products.
  • Consistently complete required training for all bank and branch policies and procedures.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, account documents, operating and maintenance instructions, consumer loan documents, and procedure manuals; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Define and offer solutions to resolve problems; use knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
  • Follow operational standards regarding security, risk management, and compliance.
  • Make sales calls via phone or Zoom to clients and/or prospects on a weekly basis to meet calling goals of the branch, recording those calls in Salesforce.
  • Interpret data to evaluate acceptable lending ratios and product/service opportunities.
  • Meet scheduled working hours as designated by manager to ensure effective functionality of the branch to meet client needs.
  • Maintain Retail Branch Standards, including dress code.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
Education, Experience and Job Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1‑year work‑related experience in customer service.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.
  • Proficient in basic computer operations and standard applications; quickly learn and navigate job‑specific software.
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude.

  • Daily reliable transportation.
  • Requires consistent standing; bending or squatting may be required to access night drops, coin machines, vaults, ATM, etc., based on branch setup.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs consistently.
  • Willingness to travel for internal education and meetings, which may include overnight stays; travel also required to fill in at other branches as needed.
  • Must pass background and credit standards to hold NMLS credentials.
