Job Purpose
The position provides excellent service to customers in accordance with Peoples Bank policies. It involves opening deposit accounts, handling CSR transactions, selling and cross‑selling bank products and services, generating and executing consumer loans, and resolving customer service issues. The role engages in sales and service activities at branch locations, contributing directly to the success of the banking center by identifying opportunities for product referrals and directing customers to appropriate channels to address their needs.
Job Duties
- Deliver superior customer service with a friendly demeanor, can‑do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
- Develop and retain the customer base, greet customers by name, and be responsive to correspondence and problem resolution.
- Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all customer business confidential.
- Maintain accurate balancing and error records as per policy and correct outages with assistance when needed.
- Process complex multi‑step transactions.
- Research and offer solutions to resolve customer issues using organizational knowledge and identify helpful resources, providing follow‑up on resolution.
- Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verify amounts, and examine checks for endorsement and negotiability.
- Acquire, use, and maintain consumer lending product knowledge to generate and execute consumer loans, lines, and deposit products.
- Be self‑motivated and assertive, perform well in a sales environment, and interact professionally with customers and team members.
- Turn service encounters into dialogue‑based meetings where other needs can be uncovered.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales referral goals set by management and maintain knowledge of the full product line offered.
- Initiate conversations to uncover customer needs and effectively refer customers to business partners for selling and cross‑selling bank products and services.
- Consistently complete required training for all bank and branch policies and procedures.
- Interpret documents such as safety rules, account documents, operating and maintenance instructions, consumer loan documents, and procedure manuals; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Define and offer solutions to resolve problems, using organizational knowledge to identify helpful resources.
- Follow operational standards regarding security, risk management, and compliance.
- Make sales calls via phone or Zoom to clients and prospects weekly to meet calling goals, recording those calls in Salesforce.
- Interpret data to evaluate acceptable lending ratios and product and service opportunities.
- Meet scheduled working hours as designated by the manager to support branch functionality and client needs.
- Meet Retail Branch Standards, including dress code.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
Education, Experience and Job Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1‑year work‑related experience in customer service.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with high accuracy and close attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and standard applications, with the ability to quickly learn and navigate job‑specific software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive and professional attitude.
- Proven team player.
- Daily reliable transportation.
- Consistent standing required; bending or squatting may be required for access to night drops, coin machines, vaults, ATMs, etc., based on branch setup.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. consistently.
- Must be able to travel to attend internal education and meetings, which may include overnight stays, and to fill in at other branches as needed.
- Must be able to pass background and credit standards to hold NMLS credentials.
- Trustworthy and confidential behavior is essential in this role.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1‑year work‑related experience in customer service.
- Daily reliable transportation.
