Job summary

Peoples Bank in Ohio is seeking a courteous and reliable Deposit Teller to deliver exceptional service, handle CSR transactions, and promote bank products. You will greet customers, process deposits and cash transactions, verify details, and protect customer information while following bank policies.

This role emphasizes sales referrals, cross-selling opportunities, and teamwork across branches. You will respond to inquiries, resolve issues, and participate in ongoing training to stay current

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1-year work-related experience in customer service.
  • Ability to stand consistently; bending or squatting may be required to access night drops, coin machines, vaults, ATM, etc. based on branch setup.
  • Capacity to lift up to 25 lbs. consistently.
  • Ability to travel to attend internal education and meetings, which may include overnight stays; travel also required to fill in at other branches as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver superior customer service with a friendly demeanor, can-do attitude, and willingness to help at all times.
  • Develop and retain the customer base, greet customers by name, maintain knowledge of account ownership, and respond to correspondence and problem resolution in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all customer business confidential.
  • Maintain balancing and error records in line with policy, find and correct outages, and enlist help as needed for more difficult errors.
  • Process complex multi-step transactions.
  • Research and offer solutions to resolve customer issues by using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources; provide follow-up on resolution.
  • Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verify amounts, and examine checks for endorsement and negotiability.
  • Acquire, use, and maintain consumer lending product knowledge, and generate and execute consumer loans, lines, and deposit products.
  • Be self-motivated and assertive in a sales environment, interacting well with customers and team members in a professional manner.
  • Turn service encounters into dialogue-based meetings to uncover other customer needs.
  • Consistently meet or exceed sales referral goals set by management and maintain a well-developed working knowledge of the complete line of products and services offered.
  • Initiate conversations to uncover customer needs and effectively refer customers to business partners for selling and cross-selling bank products and services.
  • Consistently complete required training for all bank and branch policies and procedures.
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, account documents, operating and maintenance instructions, consumer loan documents, and procedure manuals; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Define and offer solutions to resolve problems, using knowledge of the organization to identify helpful resources.
  • Follow operational standards regarding security, risk management, and compliance.
  • Make sales calls via phone or Zoom to clients and/or prospects on a weekly basis to meet calling goals of the branch, recording those calls in Salesforce.
  • Interpret data to evaluate acceptable lending ratios and product and service opportunities.
  • Meet scheduled working hours as designated by manager to ensure effective functionality of the branch to meet client needs.
  • Meet Retail Branch Standards, which includes dress code.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.

Job Purpose

The position provides excellent service to customers in accordance with Peoples Bank policies. Serves as a deposit teller, handles CSR transactions, sells and cross‑sells bank products and services, generates and executes consumer loans, and resolves customer service issues. This position engages in sales and service activities in branch locations, contributing directly to the success of the banking center by recognizing and uncovering opportunities for sales referrals and directing customers to the appropriate source or channel to address their needs.

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1‑year work‑related experience in customer service.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in basic computer operations and standard applications; quickly learn and navigate job‑specific software to perform daily tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive and professional attitude.
  • Proven team player.

  • Ability to pass background and credit standards to hold NMLS credentials.
