Duties and Responsibilities
- Use computer systems, S&T sales skills, product knowledge, and knowledge of policies and procedures to operate a customer service window efficiently and accurately.
- Identify customers, verify authenticity of requested transactions, and complete required steps to protect the customer and the bank from fraud (e.g., verifying balances, placing holds, documenting proper identification).
- Accept deposits, verify endorsements, and issue receipts.
- Accept checks or coupons for cashing, identifying customer, verifying endorsements and balances, and/or referring customers to branch management for authorization.
- Accept savings deposits and withdrawals and perform related duties.
- Provide additional customer services, including bank money orders and other services.
- Accept various loan payments or other types of payments.
- Balance window cash daily and perform ATM settlement where applicable.
- Assist in vault balancing, where applicable.
- Profile customers to determine and recommend appropriate S&T loan and deposit products.
- Utilize sales tools such as LoanFit, sales binders, etc., to enhance the customer experience and sales conversation.
- Complete the S&T sales process and customer‑focused conversation with each customer, documenting notes in the appropriate system for all bankers to view in future interactions.
- Develop customer profiles and identify banking needs, closing business and performing follow‑up calls to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Build warm but professional relationships with customers to further define their needs and increase loyalty to S&T Bank.
- Demonstrate complete understanding of the S&T sales process and comprehensive knowledge of S&T policies and procedures to identify add‑on selling opportunities and make recommendations based on customer needs.
- Perform follow‑up calls to new account customers to determine satisfaction and generate additional leads.
- Perform outbound calls as outlined in the branch playbook with reference to sample scripts in the sales and service guide and proposed potential customer lists provided to grow existing customer relationships.
- Participate in branch sales call campaigns, as needed.
- Perform data entry and prepare documentation to process new account customers and change existing accounts.
- Maintain existing accounts; answer questions and solve problems related to customer accounts and handle check orders for new and existing accounts when needed.
- Perform customer service duties such as taking deposits, cashing checks, and processing withdrawals.
- Prepare loan applications using LOS software and coordinate loan document preparation.
- Maintain a good working relationship with bank employees in other departments.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as a team player to contribute to the success of the branch and the organization.
- Complete NMLS requirements as part of the S.A.F.E. Act certification; proof of registration with the registry and verification of a unique identifier is required upon hire or prior to performing the duties of a Mortgage Loan Originator.
- Assume additional duties as required, such as balancing ATMs, processing deposits, etc.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to five years of general and specialized experience.
- Successful completion of the retail training program, including CSR and RSA training programs.
- CARE certification within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to meet assigned sales goals and support Individual and Branch production goals.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to follow established procedures.
- Capability to use computer systems and complete required steps for fraud protection and transaction processing.
Physical Demands
- Operate a keypad device: 70% of the day.
- Operate electronic equipment: 10% of the day.
- Operate office equipment: 10% of the day.
- Stand for 2 hours per day in a straight position.
- Sit for 5 hours per day in a leaning position.
- Lift up to 10 lbs. 2 times per day; maximum lift 20 lbs. one time per day; occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.
- Use manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 40% of the business day.
- Meet close vision requirements of 18‑20 inches for computer work.
