The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is searching for a board-certified (or eligible) pediatric hematologist/oncologist who is focused on sickle cell and hematology to join our collaborative, patient-focused team of 12 attending physicians (including 2 nocturnists), six inpatient advanced practice providers, eight outpatient advanced providers, and a fellowship program.

Job Description

The pediatric sickle cell clinic is a daily clinic providing comprehensive care including transfusion and infusion services with embedded TCD monitoring and counseling services. The clinic is supported by a nurse coordinator, a social worker, and a transition coordinator. The program is an authorized/qualified treatment center for gene therapy. Hematology services are provided in the separate pediatric hematology/oncology clinic as well as additional hematology focused clinics.

MUSC Minimum Requirement:

M.D. or Equivalent

MUSC is the premier tertiary referral center and academic teaching hospital in South Carolina. The Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital opened in 2020 and is a 250-bed facility with a full range of pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties overlooking the Ashley River.

We have the only pediatric stem cell transplant, CAR-T, gene therapy, and pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship programs in South Carolina. We also maintain a dynamic portfolio of consortium and industry-related oncology, hematology, and sickle cell clinical trials including gene therapy. The Division collaborates closely with Hollings Cancer Center, MUSC’s NCI designated cancer center, as well as the Darby Clinical Research Institute.
