Universal Health Services is seeking a Unit Therapist at Central Florida Behavioral Hospital in Orlando. The role focuses on providing therapeutic services, including counseling for families, individuals, and groups, and developing treatment objectives during the patient’s stay.

You will act as the primary contact for patients and families within the facility, coordinating with discharge planning and external agencies, while supporting a patient-centered care approach.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling or related field.
• Current license from the State of Florida (LCSW/LMFT/LMHC or LMHCI preferred).
• One year of direct clinical experience with psychiatric diagnosis in family, individual and group therapy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments.
• Establish treatment plans.
• Maintain collateral contacts with family and support network.
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis and resources.
• Support and advocate for patient and family.
• Coordinate discharge planning with treatment team and family.
• Be an active member of the inpatient multidisciplinary team.

Position Summary

The Unit Therapist is responsible for conducting therapeutic services for patients. They provide counseling sessions for families, individuals and groups. Unit Therapists are responsible for interviewing and developing the psychological history, assessing the therapeutic needs of the individual and family, developing appropriate treatment objectives and monthly treatment summaries. Unit Therapists act as the patients’ and families’ primary contact during the patient’s stay at the facility, as well as their advocate with the treatment team. Unit therapists are also liaisons with outside agencies and individuals for the purpose of developing and coordinating discharge planning with the treatment team and family

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health counseling or related field.
• One (1) year direct clinical experience specific to family, individual and group therapy with patient with psychiatric diagnoses. For specialized issues or treatment modalities, training must be specific to these; abuse reactive, sexual offending, substance abuse, sexual trauma, vocational, play therapy, art therapy and relaxation therapy. Must have knowledge of human development over the life span.
• Current license from the State of Florida, such as LCSW, LMFT, LMFTI, LMHC OR LMHCI preferred.
• Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations: M-F 8 AM - 5 PM
