Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a unit secretary who provides a combination of direct patient care and clerical duties for the department. Under the direction of a Clinical Nurse, you will assist the patient care team, maintain a clean environment, and help patients, families, physicians and vendors.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification may be required.
• Previous acute patient care experience or completion of IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic life support certification required or obtained after program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and infection control.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse.
• Assist the patient care team with unit clerical duties and information support.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient environment, and assist with patient flow and scheduling tests or procedures.
• Maintain patient records, sign patients in and out of the unit, and assist with equipment and supplies as needed.
• May provide continuous observation including suicide prevention.
