Unit Support Associate (Patient Transporter) Full Time - EVENINGS 2:45p-11:15p

Join us as a Unit Support Associate (Patient Transporter) at Wellstar Health System.

Position Details

Full-time, evenings shift from 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM.

Role Overview

The Unit Support Associate (USA) assists in transporting patients safely to and from various departments such as ED, Radiology, and Test/Procedure areas. Responsibilities include equipment cleaning, handling IV and O2 equipment, assisting with ambulation, stocking supplies, verifying patient ID, and supporting patient care under supervision. Must communicate effectively with healthcare team, handle stressful situations with compassion, and maintain confidentiality.

Core Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identification and proper handoff procedures
  • Transport patients safely, ensuring correct handling of O2 and IVs
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and stock supplies
  • Assist with patient activities such as ambulation and basic care needs
  • Document and file medical records and physician dictation accurately
  • Provide excellent customer service, respecting patient rights and dignity
  • Respond promptly to calls and patient concerns
  • Support team initiatives and participate in quality improvement activities
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire
  • Preferred: hospital/medical experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, work in stressful situations, and demonstrate a positive attitude
