Responsibilities

The Unit Secretary is directly accountable to the Director/Manager, and indirectly to the Charge Nurse, and/or House Supervisor. The Unit Secretary is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. Facilitates the communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders from records (in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system) with notation and signature by nursing staff. Prepares and manages records in the Emergency Room. Orders supplies for the unit, prepares, and completes each patient’s chart with necessary forms needed daily. Assists nursing staff with duties involving indirect patient care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience required.
  2. Basic dysrhythmia training upon hire.
  3. Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
  4. Current BLS certification upon hire and maintained current.
  5. Experience with computers for word processing and database management preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, ranges from $16.40 to $23.76. The exact starting salary will be determined at the time of hire, considering factors such as skillset, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
