Job Summary and Qualifications

The Unit Secretary contributes to high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of clerical tasks. The Unit Secretary functions as receptionist for the unit and assists the patient care team while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment.

What you will do for this role:

  • You will perform clerical functions in compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • You will be responsible for supervision of nursing unit’s physical needs and transcribing orders.
  • You will answer call lights, be responsible for ordering supplies, maintaining chart organization, and keeping files/forms in an orderly, organized fashion.
  • You will conduct job duties in accordance with established hospital and departmental policy and safety/infection control standards.
  • You will complete procedures related to patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and expiration according to policy and procedures.
  • You will actively participate in hospital and departmental group meetings.

What qualifications you will need:

  • 1 Year previous clerical experience is Required.
  • Out of that 1 year, experience in the hospital/medical field is strongly preferred.
  • Medical terminology knowledge is strongly preferred.
  • Current BCLS issued by the American Heart Association is required.
