Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with medical files and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support to patient care units, including transcription of orders, filing reports and coordinating transportation and follow-up tests.
• Answer phones, take and deliver messages by phone or verbally.
• Maintain close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handle all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Order supplies as needed from Materials Management.
• Verify physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Transcribe and flag orders from charts appropriately.
• Arrange transport of patients for tests not offered in the hospital.
