Job summary

Select Specialty Hospital - West TN in Jackson, TN seeks a Unit Secretary – Per Diem to support patient care units with clerical duties, order transcription, patient transport coordination, and timely message handling.

Shifts are 12 hours, day shift 7:00a–7:00p, on a per diem/PRN basis with pay at $20.00 per hour. The role includes extensive orientation, potential for advancement, and benefits eligibility after certain hours, contributing to a stable healthcare team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with medical files and terminology.

Responsibilities

• Answering the telephone, taking and delivering messages by phone or verbally.
• Maintaining close communication with the Charge Nurse/House Supervisor.
• Handling all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
• Ordering supplies, as needed, from Materials Management.
• Verifying physician privileges prior to transcribing orders.
• Appropriately transcribing and flagging orders from charts.
• Arranging for transport of patients for tests that are not offered in the hospital.
