Responsibilities
  • Perform clerical duties related to patient admission, discharge, and documentation, prioritizing and organizing work based on department needs.
  • Greet patients and families, assisting with forms and paperwork.
  • Complete admission and discharge paperwork and process files.
  • Develop rapport and cooperative relationships with nursing and clinical staff, responding to questions and requests.
  • Organize and file medical information appropriately.
  • Answer phones and call bells, communicating clearly with other units, physicians, and visitors.
  • Safeguard sensitive medical information, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Serve as a resource for troubleshooting computer and system issues within the department.
  • Maintain and stock clerical supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary to ensure departmental efficiency.
Qualifications
Required:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with medical vocabulary and hospital policies.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Preferred:
  • Completion of secretarial or medical terminology courses.
  • Previous experience as a Nursing Unit Secretary in a hospital setting.
