Job summary

Harrison County Hospital in Indiana seeks a Unit Secretary for the Med/Surg/TCU/ICU units. This PRN position rotates shifts and supports nursing staff with front-desk and clerical tasks on the patient care units.

You will act as the main communication hub in the nursing station, coordinate with patients, visitors, and physicians, and assist staff with administrative duties in accordance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CNA preferred.
• Unit Secretary experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and heavy phone-based clerical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit.
• Serve as the focal communication source in the nursing station with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
• Assist staff nurses with patient care and administrative tasks per hospital policies.

Job description

Harrison County Hospital is seeking to hire a Unit Secretary for our Med/Surg/TCU/ICU Department.

This is a PRN position, rotating shift.

Under the supervision of the Department of Nursing, this position performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit; serves as the focal communication source in the nursing station through interaction with patients, visitors, staff, other departments and physicians; and assists the staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• CNA, preferred
• Unit Secretary Experience, preferred

SKILLS:

• Customer Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Clerical Skills with Heavy Phone Use
• Required use of Electronic Medical Record System (Cerner)
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation, on the job training available. Must pass arrhythmia examination within 3 months of hire date, or test out upon hire
