Job summary

Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, IN is seeking a Unit Secretary for the Med/Surg/TCU/ICU department. This PRN role rotates shifts and supports the nursing staff on the patient care unit.

Under the supervision of the Department of Nursing, the Unit Secretary handles front-desk duties, coordinates communications among patients, visitors, and clinicians, and helps with basic clerical tasks to keep the unit running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA preferred.
• Unit Secretary experience preferred.
• Must pass arrhythmia exam within 3 months of hire or test out.

Responsibilities

• Perform receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit.
• Serve as the focal communication source in the nursing station with patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
• Assist staff nurses in patient care per hospital policies.

Job description

Harrison County Hospital is seeking to hire a Unit Secretary for our Med/Surg/TCU/ICU Department.

This is a PRN position, rotating shift.

Under the supervision of the Department of Nursing, this position performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient care unit; serves as the focal communication source in the nursing station through interaction with patients, visitors, staff, other departments and physicians; and assists the staff nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the hospital.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• CNA, preferred
• Unit Secretary Experience, preferred

SKILLS:

• Customer Skills
• Basic Computer Skills
• Clerical Skills with Heavy Phone Use
• Required use of Electronic Medical Record System (Cerner)
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation, on the job training available. Must pass arrhythmia examination within 3 months of hire date, or test out upon hire
