Job Summary
This multi-functional role requires incumbents to be cross-trained to perform Unit Secretary duties as well as at least one other clinical support job, dedicating at least 20% of their time to each role. Possible roles include Patient Care Technician, Nursing Specialty Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Monitor Technician. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the incumbent provides excellent customer service, clerical and administrative support, monitors supplies, and maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Additional duties may include observing cardiac monitors, collecting patient data, performing basic nursing procedures, and assisting with treatments and equipment maintenance.
The specific responsibilities for each role (CNA, NST, PCT, Monitor Tech) are detailed in their respective job descriptions. The clinical support role will constitute at least 20% of the work time, varying by unit.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility
This is a non-management position reporting to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
For US/CNA, US/PCT, or US/NST combinations: related coursework beyond high school or completion of a nursing fundamentals class is required. For US/Monitor Tech: HS diploma or GED is preferred.
The US portion requires either unit secretary training, 6 months of clerical or healthcare experience, or completion of a nursing fundamentals course.
Certifications/Registrations/Licenses
For US/CNA, US/PCT, or US/NST: applicable certification such as CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, or Medical Assistant is required. For US/Monitor Tech: no certification needed unless passing the Prisma Health arrhythmia exam.
Additional Requirements for US/Monitor Tech
Attendance at formal arrhythmia training and passing the Prisma Health arrhythmia exam within 30 days of hire; annual maintenance of competencies required.
