Overview

Responsible for assisting the healthcare team with clerical duties in the behavioral health unit. Patients of all ages in need of a secure, locked setting are served. The St. Luke’s C.A.R.E. delivery model (Continuity, Accountability, Relationship-based, Evidence-based) emphasizes compassionate, competent care by an interdisciplinary team, fostering therapeutic relationships with patients and families. Responsibilities

  • Assist with safety procedures on the units, including patient rounds and searches of patients and belongings.
  • Understand and comply with unit safety protocols per division guidelines.
  • Maintain competence in procedures related to managing violent or potentially violent patients.
  • Follow policies for restraint and seclusion as per service guidelines.
  • Understand managed care implications, such as obtaining release of information and questioning precertification when necessary.
  • Follow unit protocol to ensure patient confidentiality when answering phones and greeting visitors.
  • Assist with designated data collection as requested.

Qualifications

  • Fluent in English reading, writing, comprehension, and speaking.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Multicultural sensitivity.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Customer/patient-focused attitude.
  • Ability to use usual and customary equipment required for the position.
