Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to provide vital clerical support in the nursing unit, ensuring seamless patient care within a community-focused environment. You will coordinate unit operations, maintain patient records, and act as a friendly resource for patients, families, staff, and visitors.

The role emphasizes accurate transcription of medical orders, scheduling duties, and collaboration with multiple disciplines to enhance unit efficiency and safety in a community hospital

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• One year inpatient unit secretary experience preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing), familiarity with medical terminology, and experience in reading and transcribing medical orders are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.
• Accurately transcribe and distribute medical orders to other disciplines as needed.
• Serve as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Direct inquiries to the appropriate person for resolution.
