The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County is seeking a Unit Rebuild “A” technician who must have thorough knowledge of METRO’s revenue vehicle components and sub-assemblies. The role requires independent rebuilding under supervision, safe work practices, and the ability to use shop tools and equipment to complete duties.
Responsibilities include repairs to manufacturer specs, ordering parts, maintaining records, and supporting teammates as needed.

The Unit Rebuild “A” must have thorough knowledge of components and sub-assemblies of METRO’s revenue vehicles and their proper function as required for job classification. Additionally, the Unit Rebuild “A” must show a proficient knowledge and use of equipment, machining and specialized tools related to classification requirements. The Unit Rebuild “A” must independently rebuild and repair all components and sub-assemblies to completion under the supervision of a Mechanical Foreman. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Graduation from a related technical school is preferred.
Must successfully complete the METRO Unit Rebuild “B” Training Module.
Candidates with respective ASE Certification and/or relative work experience will undergo assessment and be placed accordingly within their skill level grade classification.
A valid Commercial Texas Driver’s License “B” endorsement is required for the job and must meet METRO’s requirements regarding motor vehicle records. The ability to drive any Authority owned vehicle. Able to maintain or obtain additional certification/licenses as required. Possess complete knowledge of all tools and equipment in shop related to job classification. Must maintain a basic set of personal hand tools to perform repairs related to job classification with exception of specialized tools provided by METRO. Ability to complete written reports, records and forms. Must be able to speak, read and write English.
