Job summary

The Laurels of Coldwater is seeking an RN Unit Manager to lead the daily operations of one nursing unit in Michigan. You will ensure safe, high-quality, resident-centered care and mentor nursing staff in accordance with regulations and facility policies.

As clinical leader, you will supervise RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, manage staffing, evaluate performance, and collaborate with residents, families, and the care team to maintain a compassionate, compliant environment.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred and RN license in the state of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in long-term care or post-acute settings.
• Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or management role preferred.
• Working knowledge of nursing practice, infection control, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervises nursing care provided by RNs, LPNs and CNAs/STNAs.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities per policies and laws.
• Interviews, hires, trains, plans and directs workflow.
• Prepares work assignment sheets, balancing safety, education and ability.
• Receives calls and arranges replacements for absent staff.
• Transfers employees within units as needed.
• Prepares performance evaluations impacting tenure and raises.
• Schedules lunches and breaks and resolves staff issues.

The Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager provides leadership and oversight for the daily operations of an assigned nursing unit. This position ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, and resident-centered care in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, facility policies, and professional standards of practice. The RN Unit Manager serves as a clinical leader, mentor, and resource for nursing staff, while fostering a positive and collaborative environment that supports residents, families, and team members.

Responsibilities:

• Supervises nursing care provided by Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants/State Tested Nursing Assistants.
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Supervisory responsibilities include:
  • Interviews, recommend hires and trains employees
  • Plans, assigns, and directs workflow.
  • Prepares work assignment sheets, taking into consideration resident safety, the educational preparation, experience, knowledge and ability of the persons to whom the assignments are made.
  • Receive calls and find replacements for absent staff as needed
  • Transfers employees within units as needed.
  • Prepares performance evaluations with the understanding that such evaluations impact tenure of probationary employees and wage increases of non-probationary employees.
  • Schedules and adjusts lunch and rest breaks.
  • Receives and resolves employee complaints.

  Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in long-term care or post-acute setting.
  • Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory or management role preferred.
  • Working knowledge of nursing practice, infection control, and regulatory requirements.

  Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
  • Current CPR certification or CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
