Job summary

Majestic Care of Columbus is seeking a Unit Manager (RN or LPN) to lead a nursing unit in a long-term care community, ensuring high-quality resident care and efficient operations. The role includes staffing, evaluations, staff development, coordination with physicians, and adherence to regulatory standards to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Active RN or LPN license in state of employment.
• CPR certification preferred but not required.
• Must obtain/keep CPR license within the first 30 days of employment.
• Three years of nursing experience, including at least one year in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Hire, discipline, and evaluate care team members.
• Plan and facilitate meetings and committees on resident care issues for the unit.
• Manage unit to achieve highest quality of care.
• Develop and evaluate programs for recruitment, retention, and continuing education of nursing staff.
• Coordinate with physicians to ensure timely and appropriate interventions.
• Review staffing patterns and census and reassign personnel to meet resident needs and budget.
• Monitor unit operations and resident conditions to ensure quality care.
• Obtain medications, supplies and medical records for safe, effective resident care.
• Assist in orientation of new personnel and supervise skills.

Position Overview:

The Unit Manager is responsible for directing the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating care team members.

• Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues/concerns for the unit.

• Manage area of responsibility with the goal of achieving and maintaining the highest quality of care possible.

• Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff members.

• Contact physicians as needed/necessary and ensure physician interventions are timely and appropriate.

• Review staffing patterns and census of nursing units and reassign personnel when necessary to ensure staffing meets resident needs and budgetary controls.

• Monitor the clinical operations of the unit and resident’s conditions and ensure that appropriate and quality care is administered.

• Obtain medications, supplies and medical records needed to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic are to residents on a continuing basis.

• Assist in the orientation of new personnel, monitoring their skills and guides and observe care team members that may need assistance with procedures.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.

• Licensed as an LPN or RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.

• Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.

• Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.

• Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
