Job summary

Majestic Care of Lakin is seeking a Unit Manager RN to lead an entire nursing unit in a long-term care community. You will direct the care team, manage staffing, and ensure high-quality outcomes for residents.

Responsibilities include hiring, supervising, coordinating with physicians, and promoting staff education and development. RN license in good standing and 3+ years of nursing experience (1+ year in long-term care) are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed RN in the state employed; license active, valid and in good standing.
• CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.
• Must hold an active CPR license or obtain within first 30 days of employment.
• Three years of nursing experience, including at least one year in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operation of a nursing unit in a long-term care setting.
• Hire, discipline, and evaluate care team members.
• Plan and facilitate meetings addressing resident care issues for the unit.
• Manage staffing and census to meet resident needs and budgetary controls.
• Ensure timely physician interventions and coordinate care with physicians.
• Monitor clinical operations and maintain high-quality patient care.
• Oversee supply acquisition and medical records necessary for safe care.
• Orient new personnel and supervise skill development.
• Support retention, development, and continuing education of staff.

Position Overview:

The Unit Manager is responsible for directing the entire operation of a nursing unit in a long-term community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general management functions such as hiring, disciplining, and evaluating care team members.




• Plan and facilitate meetings and committees to address resident care issues/concerns for the unit.




• Manage area of responsibility with the goal of achieving and maintaining the highest quality of care possible.




• Participate in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote the recruitment, retention, development, and continuing education of nursing staff members.




• Contact physicians as needed/necessary and ensure physician interventions are timely and appropriate.




• Review staffing patterns and census of nursing units and reassign personnel when necessary to ensure staffing meets resident needs and budgetary controls.




• Monitor the clinical operations of the unit and resident’s conditions and ensure that appropriate and quality care is administered.




• Obtain medications, supplies and medical records needed to provide safe, efficient, and therapeutic are to residents on a continuing basis.




• Assist in the orientation of new personnel, monitoring their skills and guides and observe care team members that may need assistance with procedures.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.




• Licensed RN in the state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.




• Valid CPR teaching certificate preferred, but not required.




• Must hold an active CPR license or the ability to obtain within the first 30-days of employment. CPR license must be kept active and current throughout employment.




• Three years of nursing experience, of which one year in a long-term care environment.
