Job summary

Cody Regional Health in Cody, WY is seeking a UNIT HOST - FOOD SERVICE AMBASSADOR (FT) to support NUTRITION SERVICES. You will work with dietitians, nurses, CNAs and chefs to provide well-plated, appealing meals to patients and visitors.

The role includes direct patient meal orders via tablet, delivering meals, stocking nourishments, and maintaining sanitary food-handling standards. Prior food service or bussing experience is preferred; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision you will perform a variety of tasks including working directly with Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Executive Chefs to provide well-plated, visually appealing, and flavorful food. You will gain experience in a healthcare setting, learn about safe food handling and therapeutic diets, while also creating opportunity for continued professional growth. Direct patient contact placing meal orders via computer hardware, delivering meal trays, collecting meal trays. Stocking units with nourishment daily and recording via online application. Providing an excellent food service experience for our patients and visitors. Wash dishes and adhere to all sanitary regulations governing the handling, storage preparation and serving of food is an expectation of all food service workers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform on-the-job training related to sanitary food service standards and safety .
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions and pay close attention to details.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of working on a tablet.

EXPERIENCE
Food service, bussing or waiting experience; minimum of 3 months preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Passion for food and health of our patients and visitors, and providing excellent customer service .
  • Direct patient contact - communicate with patients, place patient meal orders while following regulatory guidelines for therapeutic diet protocol .
  • Assure accuracy and appropriateness of meal including food texture, fluid consistency, appearance, portion control, taste, and temperature. Able to make appropriate substitutions according to meal satisfaction standards.
  • Desire and willingness to adapt to fluctuating patient acuity/complexity and patient and customer requests .
  • Deliver patient meals and nourishments according to AIDET guidelines. Assist patients with meal set-up and assure meal satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with team members, patients, clinical staff and visitors , and work well in a team atmosphere .
  • Adhere to all sanitary regulations governing the handling, storage preparation and serving of food is required of all food service workers .
  • Work with various departments, providing an interdepartmental coordination of care to ensure proper meal delivery and times .
  • Perform first in, first out. Accurately cover, label and date all food items. Ensure all outdated items are discarded. Accurately document food temperatures.
  • Stock department/units with nourishment items between meal times and record activities and inventory via online application .
  • Maintain courteous, considerate, cooperative, and accurate communication with facility personnel, patients, and families.
  • Ensure order accuracy and quality .

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Collect meal trays; wash and put away dishes; maintain standards of safety.
  • May also perform work on the tray line, cashier station, and may work different preparation or serving stations.
