Job Summary
The Unit Director supervises two critical care areas: the 8-bed ICU Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit and the 16-bed NICU Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit, with an annual budget of $20 million and 105 FTE. These units are managed as one staff serving similar patient populations. UCSF is a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center, and the Unit Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality care and regulatory compliance to maintain this status. The role involves designing and overseeing nursing and administrative operations across large or multiple patient care areas, and managing staffing, fiscal, and material resources. The Director also supports high-level quality and safety initiatives and policy updates.
Involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care. Promotes an environment for shared nursing practice and continuous improvement. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Collaborates with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient management and serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students, and others.
