  • Good understanding of digital modulation and demodulation.

Job description

Nokia is looking to hire an RF hardware unit design validation engineer to join our US Product Development team. Our team is responsible for developing the next generation 5G network radios for our global customer base.


Our team is responsible for 5G BTS development and is looking for a design engineer to participate in the development of a cellular base station. Considering both experienced and those willing to explore new areas. In this job, you will:

  • Fully own RF TRX key parameters, requirement analysis, simulation and verification
  • Take ownership of RF TRX technology evaluation, sub-circuit design and simulation of TX, RX, Clock etc. in 5G NR Product
  • Be responsible for RF TRX design solution implementation and application
  • Be responsible for RF TRX board level debug and prototype testing with the system integration team.
  • Schematic design and PCB layout review with Layout engineer
  • Design documents/ test specification/test plan written
  • Technical support and failure analysis for manufacturing and field issues
  • Co-operate with the Software team to verify the RF transceiver function

Opportunities to grow into roles with more responsibility, such as unit integrator and chief engineer, as competencies and experience increase.


Required skills:

  • MS + 3 years in Electrical Engineering or Physics with coursework in RF or Microwave technology preferred. BSEE + 5 years of applicable internship experience is also acceptable.
  • Knowledge of RF Circuit Design and Signal processing techniques from applicable coursework or job experience is a major plus.
  • Good theoretical and practical understanding of basic RF Engineering and general principles, including digital modulation and demodulation.
  • Basic understanding of RF performance specifications and test methodology
  • Experience with common RF simulation and electromagnetic simulation tools is a big plus (HP ADS, CST, HFSS).
  • Experience with analytical simulation / analysis tools such as Matlab and Python would be very helpful.
  • Positive attitude, and experience working in a team environment

It would be nice if you also had

  • Previous Nokia co-op experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Technical leadership potential is a plus.
  • Good planner and organizer.
  • Adept Problem Solver
  • Ability to travel internationally at short notice if needed (overall travel expected to be less than 10%).
