Beth Israel Lahey Health in Burlington, MA is seeking a Unit Coordinator to support the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. This 24-hour/week, day-shift role requires a high school diploma and strong clerical skills; vaccination policy applies; benefits eligible.

Under RN supervision, you will manage patient charts, process orders, answer phones, and help maintain unit supplies while safeguarding patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient charts and ensures forms are available daily.
• Assembles charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Processes physician orders and supports patient flow using bedtracking systems.
• Answers telephones and transmits messages to unit staff.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Stores and inventories office supplies; orders new supplies as needed.
• Follows department procedures for access to medications as needed.

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives.The Unit Coordinator will support the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.This is a 24hr/week opportunity, benefits eligible, working day shifts, 7am-3:30pm.The Unit Coordinator has a varied schedule and carries an every-third-weekend commitment along with rotating holiday coverage amongst the team.Job Description:Under general supervision of the Registered Nurse, provides clerical support to inpatient nursing unit.Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:Prepares patients charts, ensuring that all necessary forms are available and relevant patient information is ready for use or review dailyAssembles charts for admissions, transfers, and discharges.Utilizes appropriate computer systems to process physician orders for relevant patient informationUtilizes bedtracking systems to support timely patient flow.Answers telephones, following Lahey Clinic’s established greeting; takes and transmits messages to unit staff.Responds to queries from physicians, nursing staff, and visitors taking care not disclose confidential patient information to unauthorized individuals in accordance with various Lahey policies, outside regulations and laws governing patient confidentiality including but not limited to HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act).Inventories nursing unit’s office supplies and orders new supplies as needed to maintain standard inventory levels.
