Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center offering advanced behavioral health and diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents, and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient programs. The Unit Coordinator at Hampton Behavioral will manage the clerical functions of the nursing unit necessary to provide patient care. This is a part-time position, working 24 hours a week. Hours are 2:45 pm – 11:15 pm, with 3 evening shifts per week and rotating weekends. Responsibilities include:

  • Possessing experience and knowledge of interventional and administrative duties to support nursing and patient care on the assigned unit.
  • Assisting in the direct care and management of patients with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. Supporting unit programming to facilitate therapy, leisure activities, and activities of daily living for patients.
  • Having knowledge of dual diagnosis, chemical dependency, and mental health patients; age-specific patient issues, limit setting, behavior management, crisis prevention, and intervention techniques.
  • Understanding regulatory agency standards (DOH, DPW, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.).
  • Participating in staff development procedures and requirements.
  • Communicating effectively orally, telephonically, and in writing.
  • Having working knowledge of computer systems and software; maintaining CPR certification.
  • Demonstrating good documentation, organization, and time management skills. Being effective in decision-making and problem-solving.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working with psychiatric patients and previous secretarial experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must have physical agility to manage patients, including pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stoop intermittently. Must be drug and alcohol free, evidenced by negative results on pre-employment testing. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
